On discovering his passion for hair and hair colour, Brian sought out an apprenticeship with the New York TIGI Academy. Progressing to become a member of the education team, Brian is a true testament to what can happen when combining TIGI Education with a strong work ethic.

As a native New Yorker and longtime Brooklyn resident, Brian has always been fueled by the city. The abundance of art, music, fashion, and culture – both from the high-end of the spectrum to what’s ‘up and coming’ from the street – are a constant source of creative inspiration for him.

What was the moment when you decided to be a hairdresser?

I never thought about hairdressing. It’s actually not something I would have ever come up with on my own; it was suggested to me by a hairdresser friend of mine. Before I changed career, I worked in fashion as a dressmaker.

When you aren’t feeling inspired, where do you find inspiration?

My favourite thing to do is escape into nature, ideally the mountains. There is so much inspiration out there, it’s almost overwhelming.

What is your idea of the perfect weekend off?

Easy! Snowboarding or hiking with my pup, Eva.

What would be the soundtrack to your funeral?

Man, I don’t know! Maybe The Beatles ‘Hey Jude’.

What has been your favourite colour you have created?

This is by far my favourite colour. I came up with it in the moment, which is my favourite way to create. It was in a demo for one of our Creative & Colour courses at the TIGI New York Academy.
