This weekend’s BTC LOVE Show in Washington DC, USA, promised education with a difference with Look & Learn presentations to inspire, entertain and provoke. This was totally taken on board by the TIGI Creative Team who blew everyone’s minds in the ballroom of the Gaylord National on Sunday afternoon with their outstanding presentation of HAIR + MUSIC.
MUSIC INSPIRES US
Music has always been a major influence on the team’s collaborative work, led by Anthony Mascolo’s own passion for creating of a mood combining film, music, fashion, hair and performance. Importantly, every new presentation pushes the work to the next level. This time round Thomas Osborn, TIGI US Creative Director & VP of Education, worked on the original concept for the presentation, leading the TIGI Creative Team and creatively directing the presentation with the support of TIGI Show Director, Mike Esa, who developed the idea of Hair + Music through the ages.
Esa used the massive screens at the BTC Love Show to full effect with mind-boggling music clips from past decades, representing the models’ moods. On stage, the TIGI Creative Team showed how cut and colour can take inspiration from past eras, tap into different music genres, and come up with something that is 100% relevant to today’s hairdressers and their clients.
Showing how to achieve the looks, the TIGI Team comprised stylists and colourists:
Touching on cutting and colouring techniques, as well as styling and finishing, with elements of session hair thrown in, the TIGI ‘band’ thrilled the BTC Love Show audience and got them in the mood to progress their own work to the beat of their choice.
Thomas and the team collaborated with Mike Esa to select the perfect playlist to accompany the presentation at the BTC Love Show. The TIGI soundtrack travelled through the decades, beginning with early 70s’ Rock, through to 80s’ Punk, 90s’ Grunge, 00s’ Dance, and finishing with the sounds of the 2010s. Listen to the HAIR + MUSIC playlist to match with the hair and you’ll find yourself immersed in the moment.
