MEN’S CUT TECHNIQUE: TIGHT FADE WITH TEXTURE
The London Barber demonstrates how to achieve a close fade with length on top, adaptable for your clients' style.
Short doesn’t have to have limitations. From the 2018 Bed Head for Men collection, Kieron Webb, aka The London Barber, demonstrates how to create an adaptable look for your male clientele.
The collection showcases modern cuts designed to give men the freedom to express themselves in different ways to suit the occasion and mood. Here, a close fade at the sides and back works into a slightly longer crown section, giving versatality for a street-style texture or a more polished, tailored look.

STEP BY STEP: BRUSH UP

01. Prep the hair with Clean Up™ Daily Shampoo.

02. Create the skin fade, starting with a small trimmer to create the first guideline from the temple to the back of the head shape and from the back of the head shape to the temple. This will create the shortest length of hair for the fade.

03. Use the clipper with the #2 guard to remove the bulk throughout the entire horseshoe area of the head shape.

04. Remove the #2 guard and continue the fade process working in quarter inch sections, closing the taper arm from the open position (lever down) to a half (lever in the middle) to closed (lever up).

05. Apply the 1/2 guard to the clipper, open the taper arm and continue the fade. Check for any lines and dark spots in the fade area.

06. Work through the top section using deep parallel point-cutting in the comb to add texture and movement to the hair.

07. Blowdry the hair into the desired shape.

08. Apply Matte Separation™ Workable Wax to add texture and define the look
