SCISSOR TIPS: HOW TO BUILD CUTTING CONTROL
DO try this at home: Philip Downing shares a simple trick to help develop scissor control.
Philip Downing, TIGI US Creative & Education Director, shares an easy trick to help build hand muscle memory and control in your cutting work.
“When I was at home, as a young hairdresser,” says Philip, “I was taught this very simple technique and it really helped to support my blade and shear work.”
He explains: “The more control we have with our dominant hand (the scissor hand), the more support a technique has.”
This is a simple exercise to try at home, so why not grab your scissors and start practicing? When you return to the salon, you’ll find you have much more control in your cutting techniques.
