The SS19 shows introduced an emerging trend for hair accessories. We’re not talking about one slide to keep a grown-out fringe out of the way. This trend saw multiple grips, clips, combs and barettes on one head of hair.
At Milan Fashion Week, TIGI European Session Director, Maria Kovacs, styled the models’ hair in feminine, classic upswept twists and chignons, keeping the styles in place with 90s’ favourites: slides, combs and butterfly clips. Suddenly this outdated form of keeping hair in place is fresh, modern and fun!
Move forwards to the AW19 shows and from New York to London, Milan and Paris designers used hair accessories, often branded with their logos, as well as ribbons, bows and headbands. At the emotional Chanel show, Sam Mcknight styled the models hair into half ponytails, fastened with bows and gardenias or glittering logo barettes.
The trend is easily translated for clients and makes an easy alternative to their usual hairstyle, that can work for any occasion – work, holiday, festival or a special event.
