An anarchist never conforms. Take the ultimate ‘It Girl’; she dresses expensively but doesn’t care. Her hair is styled but she wears it undone. She leads and others follow. She lives a luxurious life, full of hope, yet is happy to rebel for the sake of her art. Meet the Opulent Anarchist.
Her hair shows her attitude and it’s an essential part of her style. TIGI European Session Director, Maria Kovacs, says “This girl is the epitome of cool and looks like a Saint Laurent girl. She can always be seen on the front row but she’s the one everyone’s looking at”.
Maria creates two looks within this trend, both reflecting the girl’s effortless style. They’re undone elegance with a lived-in finish.
For the first look, Maria creates a polished rock ‘n’ roll hairstyle that’s swept back off the face with masses of volume. Maria prepares the style with Bed Head Superstar Queen for a Day to add plenty of lift at the root and body throughout. She finishes with Bed Head Joyride, giving this look a ‘next day’ feel and subtle shine.
To create the second look, Maria adds a cocktail of products and reshapes the hair into a Rockabilly hairstyle. “This is more of a boyish look” says Maria. “The fringe and shape at the front resemble a quiff. Just like the trend for boyfriend clothes, this is boyfriend hair”.
Maria liberally applies Headrush Shine Spray all over to add separation and a loose, disheveled look. For the wet look finish and slicked back sides, she uses Joyride, giving the overall appearance of ‘the day after the night before’.
To achieve this look, Maria advises “take a large triangle section at the fringe area, push it forward and twist. But don’t make it too tight. Be sure to keep it loose to get that real Rockabilly quiff. Attach the remaining hair to the bun or ponytail underneath then slick back the sides with product for a rock ‘n’ roll finish.”
