Pat Mascolo is the quieter, but no less powerful, half of the iconic Mascolo duo. Creator of thousands of makeup looks, over almost 40 years of working on photo shoots and hair shows, Pat has travelled the globe many times with husband Anthony, and her amazing makeup looks are as important to the success of TIGI Collections as the hair cuts and colours.
With a close team of makeup artists, including her long-standing assistant, and well-known makeup artist herself, Amy Barrington-Long, Pat continually develops new concepts and ideas, researching global trends, following seasonal fashion shows and working with Anthony and his close creative team on projects and ideas that lead to inspirational and creative ideas.
Whether you’re a makeup artist, have an interest in makeup from a creative perspective or are a hairdresser looking to advise your clients and show your trend credentials, it’s good to have knowledge of what’s hot in makeup. Here, Pat shares some of her favourite looks for Winter 2019 that your clients could be wearing everyday or, as the festive season approaches, for special nights out.
Did the trend for lip gloss ever go away? Not according to most women! This season it’s about the perfect dewy lip, thanks to modern makeup formulas that are glossy without the gloop. This time around, the dewy lip is girly and pretty, in soft natural skin tones to flatter and please.
Moving away from contouring, flushed pinky cheeks sweep upwards from the cheekbones to give an 80s’ revival look that’s pretty and feminine. With similarly toned, pinky lips this one-tone makeup is easy to apply and gives a youthful air.
At TIGI we’ve always loved bright tones and this season’s neon splashes of colour show we’re bang on-trend with all kinds of brights, used on eyes, lips and lashes.
There’s been a prominence for a monotone palette recently and that’s where the new version of the classic smoky eye creates an understated, elegant look that is totally contemporary and ‘of the moment’.
Futuristic shapes have always been a mainstay of TIGI makeup looks so it’s great to see graphic shapes and lines being used to create a strong impactful look. Sometimes this can be seen as an homage to the 1960s (think Twiggy) but it also definitely points to imaginative ideas of the future.
Sometimes Boho, sometimes pure fantasy, using glitter, shine and luxe is great for show looks but can also be simplified for the perfect party look, just like most girls love to wear.
An all-time classic, the red lip guarantees impact and is a staple winter makeup trend. It’s bold and is powerful enough to keep everything else to a minimum so this season it’s about a matte lip, polished skin and maybe a ‘lick and flick’ of black liner.
